Headsets
The headset is a crucial part on a scooter; it function is to provide steering platform between the scooter fork and the scooter bars. This tube through which the top end steering part of the fork passes is called the head tube.
Up to now there are 3 types of Headset you need to be aware of.
Threaded headsets are for use with threaded forks are used with the more popular Brands e.g.Razor.
The newer designs developed by extreme riders incorporate:
Threadless Headsets are for use with threadless forks, the fork tube protrudes from the fork through the deck head tube and above the headset, you then use a clamp to hold in place. This offer a more controlled steering with little give, and more directional strength.
OR
Integrated Headsets place the bearings directly against the deck frame head tube, these integrated headsets reduce the number of parts involved compared to threadless in your build. You will need a deck with an intergrated headtube for this to work, e.g Pheonix Intergrated Decks
